Joshua vs. Dubois: AJ heavier than the champion in the world championship fight at Wembley

Anthony Joshua said he was “still on the battlefield” and dismissed any suggestion that his career was coming to an end as the Briton dropped the heavyweight division to world title fight against Daniel Dubois on Saturday.

Two-time unified heavyweight world champion Joshua, 34, will face 27-year-old Dubois for the IBF belt at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

At an elaborate weigh-in in Trafalgar Square, Joshua weighed in at 18st (136kg), while Dubois weighed in at 17st (105kg), his career high.

“I see myself as a gladiator and will step into the arena tomorrow to perform in front of the people,” said Joshua.

“I started boxing late, but it shows that you can achieve anything. I'm not a warrior in the garden yet, I'm still on the battlefield.”

The central London landmark has been cordoned off for what is arguably the most extravagant British fight week venue ever.

Double-decker buses and black taxis formed the backdrop, and Nelson's Column towered behind a stage between the two famous fountains.

Dubois, who was born in Greenwich, limited himself to a minimum of words, just as he did at the press conference on Thursday.

“I am ready to fight,” he repeated three times.

The World Championship fight will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds from 7pm (BST).
