Teenager accused of making implausible threats against a Rockland County school on social media

Police were alerted to a possible social media threat to the North Rockland School District.

Officers said they were able to quickly locate the girl who allegedly made the post on Thursday evening.

Police concluded the threat was not credible, but the 16-year-old Haverstraw girl was charged with making terroristic threats.

Haverstraw Police released the following statement regarding the incident:

“The Town of Haverstraw Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff at all of our schools. We will continue to investigate any allegation or threat of violence with all of our power and resources. We also will not tolerate individuals who seek to instill fear in the community. We will charge them with all appropriate charges and ensure they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
