Art Moore retires as vice president of programming at “Live with Kelly and Mark” WABC after 53 years at ABC

NEW YORK (WABC) — “Live with Kelly and Mark” paid tribute to the incredible career of Art Moore, who retires after more than half a century in television.

Art has served as vice president of programming at WABC-TV in New York for the past 36 years and as executive producer of the morning show. He has also been part of the ABC family for 53 years.

Hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos presented Art with flowers and other gifts during his farewell show, while the audience gave him a standing ovation.

He began working on Live! in its second season and appeared frequently on the show, including the Halloween episodes.

Some of these performances were celebrated during the show on Friday (20.9.).

A look back at Art Moore's numerous appearances on “Live” over the years

Art began his career at WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York, when ABC was still known as Capital Cities/ABC.

He then worked for many years as program director at WPVI in Philadelphia before joining WABC as program director in 1989.

In this role, he appeared in countless series and specials that helped shape WABC's identity and the station's enduring relationship with its viewers.

Earlier this week, employees of “Live” and WABC-TV as well as longtime colleagues gathered for a farewell party to celebrate his career.

Art has been part of the ABC family for 53 years. He joined us here at WABC in 1989.

Art is a multiple Emmy Award winner and has produced some of the most successful and prolific series in syndication history, including “Road to Gold,” a 20-year-running Oscar preview show, and, most notably, the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television, “Live with Kelly and Mark.”

“Live with Kelly and Mark” airs weekdays at 9 a.m. on ABC 7.
