Missoula police report multiple drug overdoses, including one death

MISSOULA – A public safety alert is being issued following several drug overdoses in Missoula this week.

The Missoula Police Department responded to a welfare check in the Turner Street area on Thursday afternoon and found three unconscious people in a vehicle.

Narcan and AED were used and the three were taken to a hospital in Missoula, where one of the people died and another was left alive.
in critical condition since Friday afternoon.

MPD reported another incident this week where three people were found with an overdose. They all survived.

The overdoses prompted Missoula police to issue a warning about the dangers of “illegal drugs circulating in our community, particularly fentanyl,” MPS spokeswoman Whitney Bennett wrote in a statement.

Missoula Police provided the following information:

“Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is extremely powerful and often mixed with other drugs without the user's knowledge, is becoming increasingly common in Missoula. To learn more about fentanyl and how to recognize its dangers, Missoula Police recommend that residents FacingFentanylNow.org.”
