Arrest after threatening incident at Prescott Valley School

Prescott Valley Police officers said they arrested a juvenile in connection with a threatening incident at an area school.

In a statement, police said they received “information about a possible threat related to Liberty Traditional School” on Friday morning and that the arrest was made after a “thorough investigation.”

“The investigation has determined that there is no actual danger to the students or the school. There are no other threats and there are no suspects at large,” the statement said.

To reassure the school community, police said an extra officer was assigned to Liberty Traditional School for the remainder of the school day. At the same time, officials advised parents to talk to their children about the “serious consequences of threats, even if they are made in jest.”

β€œIt is critical that children understand that their behavior on social media can have profound and lasting impacts on the entire community,” the statement said.
