Man accused of robbing Edgewater bank arrested after chase through Castle Rock

EDGEWATER, Colorado – A man accused of robbing an Edgewater bank was arrested Friday after a police chase through Castle Rock.

According to Edgewater police, the incident occurred around 10:10 a.m. at the Huntington Bank, 1709 Sheridan Boulevard in Edgewater.

According to Edgewater police, a man entered the bank and handed a clerk a note stating that a robbery was in progress. The clerk handed over an “undetermined amount of money” and the man ran out of the bank to a vehicle, police said.

Officers pursued the vehicle into Denver before it drove off south on Highway 25. After a “brief chase” through Castle Rock, officers stopped the vehicle and took the man – later identified as 30-year-old Darren Fowlkes – into custody.

Fowlkes was booked into jail on robbery charges. Edgewater police said additional charges are possible as a result of the pursuit.
