Two people arrested for drug offenses and child endangerment in Lee County

Two people were arrested in Lee County on numerous charges, including drug trafficking and endangering a child.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office said a drug search warrant was executed at a home in the 600 block of Lee County Road 293 in Smiths Station around 6 a.m. today.

Investigators say this led to the arrest of 48-year-old Kenneth Byron Halsey and 30-year-old Kacee Jo Pruitt, both of Smiths Station.

The sheriff's office said the search yielded approximately 869 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and three firearms.

Additionally, investigators stated that a nine-month-old baby was present and placed in the care of the Alabama Department of Human Resources.

Halsey and Pruitt are charged withMethamphetamine distribution, chemical endangerment of a child, possession of marijuana in the second dand possession of drug paraphernalia. Both are being held in the Lee County Jail on $56,000 bail each.
