Marshawn Johnson, the third suspect wanted in connection with the February 2024 murder of James Stewart III, has been arrested. Johnson, 22, was arrested with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the St. Joseph County Warrants Division, St. Joseph County Warrants Task Force, Mishawaka Police, U.S. Marshals Service, LaPorte County Sheriff's Department and Elkhart Police Department.

The arrest ends a months-long manhunt for Johnson, who was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder along with 22-year-old Demarko Robinson and 19-year-old Jamir Johnson. The charges stem from the Feb. 1 incident in which Stewart was found dead in a vehicle near Johnson Street and Fassnacht Avenue after being shot multiple times.

Robinson and Jamir Johnson had been arrested previously, but Marshawn Johnson was still at large. Authorities suspected he was hiding in the South Bend area and warned the public that he was armed and dangerous.

Marshawn Johnson is currently being held in the St. Joseph County Jail pending further court proceedings.
