2 dead, 4 injured in accident in Yoakum County

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Two New Mexicans died and four others were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Yoakum County, right on the Texas-New Mexico border, Friday morning, according to DPS.

According to DPS, the accident occurred around 11:30 a.m.

According to the release, 35-year-old Tina Ann Abbay of Las Cruces, NM, was driving south on FM 769 approaching the intersection of US Highway 82. According to DPS, Abbay had four other passengers in the vehicle. They were 15, 1, 9 and 17 years old.

According to DPS, a pickup truck pulling a trailer was traveling east on the highway approaching FM 769.

Abbay did not stop at the intersection and continued driving through the intersection, colliding with the truck.

Abbay and the 15-year-old died at the scene of the accident from the injuries they sustained in the accident.

The other three passengers were taken to UMC here in Lubock for their injuries.

The driver of the pickup was treated for minor injuries
