Paradise man arrested for reckless driving and carrying a loaded weapon | News

CHICO, California. – A Paradise man was arrested in Chico on Sept. 18 for reckless driving and carrying a loaded weapon.

Chico police said that on September 18, a Chico Police Department motorcycle officer was patrolling the East 8th Street area for speeding.

An officer saw a Mercedes driving at high speed and tried to stop the car.

According to police, before the officer stopped the driver, he made two reckless turns and ran a stop sign, causing an accident.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Michael Ames, attempted to leave the scene of the accident but was detained by the police officer.

Ames was arrested for reckless driving and his car was impounded for 30 days.

Police said Ames was driving without a license, and a search of his car revealed he had a loaded gun in a leather motorcycle vest.

Ames was then cleared for medical reasons and subsequently taken to the Butte County Jail.

Police said charges were filed for possession of a concealed loaded weapon, reckless driving and driving without a license.

The other driver involved in the accident was not injured.
