20-year-old Waterville man charged with murder

On Friday, a 20-year-old Waterville man was arrested by police and charged with murder for allegedly shooting another man in February.

Tyler Quirion was indicted Thursday by a Kennebec County grand jury on charges of murder, manslaughter and illegal possession of a firearm, according to Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte of the Maine State Police.

On the morning of February 19, police responded to a report of a shooting outside a residence on South Grove Street in Waterville and found 22-year-old Justin Iraola of Winslow dead. Police had previously stated that Iraola died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives from the Waterville Police Department and Maine State Police arrested Quirion, who was taken to the Kennebec County Jail and is being held without bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
