Man and woman charged in Smiths Station after drug raid finds nearly 900 grams of meth

LEE COUNTY, Alabama (WTVM) – A baby is in state custody after a Smiths Station man and woman were arrested during a drug search where officers found over 800 grams of meth.

On September 20 at approximately 6:00 a.m., authorities executed a drug search warrant in the 600 block of 293 Lee Road in Smiths Station.

Kenneth Byron Halsey, 48, and Kacee Jo Pruitt, 30, both of Smiths Station, were arrested when officers found approximately 869 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and three firearms.

Halsey and Pruitt were charged with:

  • Methamphetamine trafficking
  • Chemical hazards to a child
  • Possession of marijuana in the 2nd degree
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Both are being held in the Lee County Jail on $56,000 bail each.
