Former New Orleans police officer charged with fraud, multiple charges

Several charges have been brought against Leesa Augustine.

A former New Orleans police officer has been charged with multiple counts. Court records show the seven counts against Leesa Augustine include wire fraud, wire fraud involving an emergency response, wire fraud against a financial institution, aggravated identity theft, and making false statements. Court records from 2022 show that Augustine worked for the Sewerage & Water Board's security division while also working for the NOPD and was accused of “double-counting” because she received pay from both employers for a total of 218 hours. After an investigation, the NOPD terminated Augustine's service as a reserve officer. She was also fired from S&WB.
