He approached Jones' car and ripped off the side mirror. When Jones got out of his car, Grguras sprayed him with wasp spray and then yelled racist epithets at Jones' 15- and 11-year-old daughters, according to the complaint. The girls can be heard screaming on video. “My children are very affected by the situation that occurred here. They are deeply traumatized and hopefully justice will be served,” Jones said during a news conference Friday. Raynell Jones was on the phone with her daughter when she heard Grguras yelling racist epithets. “My first reaction when she called me and I heard a stranger in the background yelling at her and telling her to 'shut up you black bitch before I punch your face in,' my first thought was that Donald was dead or something had happened to him,” Raynell Jones said. Grguras is charged with assault, terroristic threats, property damage and harassment. Phil DiLucente, his attorney, said, “This has been an emotional day for everyone. I am confident that now that my client has sustained the injuries, he will be able to leave the hospital and that reason will prevail at the preliminary hearing.” Olga George, a spokeswoman for Mayor Ed Gainey, said, “We want to apologize to the family who was negatively impacted during the interaction with this worker. The Building Department does not tolerate behavior that causes harm to anyone. The worker is currently going through our disciplinary process and is off duty. We cannot comment further until the disciplinary process is complete.”
