Police reports 9/21/24: Salamanca man charged with multiple drug possession charges | Allegany County

SALAMANCA – A Salamanca man is facing multiple drug possession charges following an incident in the city Friday morning.

Matthew Lee Grimes, 30, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a substance (a Class B felony), two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a Class D felony), and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia (a Class A misdemeanor).

Police responded to a report of multiple people using drugs on Pennsy Trail south of Eagle Street around 4:58 a.m. Officials with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office reported encountering multiple people in the area and discovering trash, burnt aluminum foil and hypodermic needles lying on the ground.

After an investigation, Grimes' files allegedly contained 7.4 grams of fentanyl, 2.9 grams of methamphetamine, 9.7 grams of crack cocaine, 18 individually wrapped Suboxone strips, as well as a scale, packaging material for the drug and various drug paraphernalia.

Grimes was charged, arraigned, and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail without bail.

Wellsville Police

  • Thursday, no time reportedGina L. Damico, 34, of Wellsville, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident that occurred on June 11. Damico was summoned and issued a summons.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office

  • SALAMANCA — Crystal M. Lore, 31, of Cattaraugus, was charged at 1:20 a.m. Friday with two counts of seventh-degree unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Class A misdemeanor) and failure to maintain lane (violation). The charges stem from a traffic stop in the city where Lore was allegedly found in possession of suspected fentanyl and diazepam. Lore was processed and released with a summons.
  • SALAMANCA — James Garcia, 23, of Little Valley, was charged at 1:20 a.m. Friday with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. The charges stem from a traffic stop in the city where Garcia was allegedly found in possession of suspected crack cocaine, alprazolam and drug paraphernalia. Garcia was processed and released with a summons.

  • ALLEGANIE — Levi T. Ward, 28, of Franklinville, was charged with bypassing an ignition interlock device (a Class A misdemeanor) and second-degree driving without a license (an unclassified misdemeanor) at 10:09 a.m. Thursday. Ward was cited and issued a summons.
  • BELFAST — Aeden Blaine Farrington, 21, of Franklinville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving under the influence and reckless driving, all non-misdemeanor offenses, at 11:22 a.m. Thursday. Farrington was cited and issued a summons.
  • MACHIAS — Rebecca J. Hoyt, 37, of Delevan, was charged at 6:25 p.m. Thursday with unauthorized distribution or publication of an intimate image and second-degree aggravated harassment by communicating a threat by telephone, computer or mail, class A misdemeanors. Hoyt was summoned and issued a summons.
