Man charged with lewd conduct outside Ithaca restaurant – Finger Lakes Daily News

A Cortland County man was arrested for causing a public nuisance in connection with an incident that occurred early Friday morning in the city of Ithaca.

Witnesses reported that Joshua Compton, of Marathon, was sitting in the driver's seat of a car parked outside a busy restaurant, completely naked, and engaging in lewd behavior in front of others. When Ithaca police arrived at the scene in the 100 block of Dryden Road, they confirmed that the 36-year-old was viewing pornographic material and engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior.

Compton was also charged with public display of indecent sexual material and exposure of a person. He will appear in Ithaca Municipal Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Due to the proximity of the incident, Cornell University campus police were also notified of the incident.

The fact that a defendant is accused of a crime constitutes merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
