57 minutes Wan-Bissaka's dangerous cross to the far post is headed back by Kudus, but Chelsea are able to clear. Soler is there with a follow-up shot, but it goes straight into Sanchez's mouth.

56 minutes There are also many changes at Chelsea. Sancho and Fofana have to go and are replaced by Neto and Disasi.

share

54 minutes Madueke charges down the left and attempts a great ball into the box with the outside of his preferred left foot, but fails to spot Palmer.

share

53 mins The two West Ham substitutes come in. Summerville has to go off, and that goes down really well with the crowd. Soler replaces Alvarez.

52 minutes Paqueta attempts a dribble into the box in the style of Ricky Villa in 1981, but the attempt does not have the same result and is blocked.

48 minutes Lopetegui stands motionless on the sidelines with his arms crossed. A penny for his thoughts. Something, something for a soldier's game.

GOAL! West Ham 0-3 Chelsea (Palmer 46)

Wow. What a start to the second half for Chelsea! Kudus is blocked in the box and the visitors break through. Jackson leads the attack and then plays a back pass to Palmer who slams the ball into the post, completely ruining Lopetegui's half-time speech.

46 minutes Chelsea win the second half, Palmer plays the ball back to Sanchez straight after kick-off.

West Ham are out early again and are doing small, springy warm-up exercises. Lopetegui has probably unleashed his tirade. Will it have an effect?

share

“Be careful what you wish for”was the oft-repeated catchphrase as West Ham fans called for David Moyes to leave. It will surely be repeated again this weekend unless West Ham can turn things around.

Reader Dan Owen is travelling far, far away from the London Stadium and sends us this. “On a long drive from Matadi to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo… huge relief that the truck drivers are on strike today and the road is unusually clear, and huge relief that Jackson's strikes are working and the road ahead of Chels may be similarly clear.”

HALF TIME! West Ham 0-2 Chelsea

West Ham were sleepy and pretty awful in the opening half and were punished by two calm finishes from the much-maligned Nicolas Jackson. They showed signs of reviving but simply need to score the next goal if they are to try and claim their first home point of the season. Lopetegui is incredibly angry, as are most of the angrily grumbling home fans.

share

45+2 The free kick bounces into the Chelsea box and is cleared for a corner. Bowen fires the ball home before the offside flag goes up and the half-time whistle blows.

share

45+1 minutes We are in the first of only two minutes of injury time. A first foul by Argentina against Brazil, Fernandez leaves Paqueta lying.

share

44 minutes Yellow card for Fofana when he brings down the galloping Summerville. Free kick for West Ham on the left. Mavropanos heads the cross but can only deflect it.

share

43 minutes Sanchez has been a little nervous so far, misjudging a bouncing ball over the top for Kudus and almost paying the price when the West Ham player fires the ball back in from the touchline. The danger has passed, but signs of a revival are there, even if Chelsea do something foolish.

share

42 minutes Palmer and Madueke have been quiet so far and yet Chelsea are already two goals ahead. I have a feeling West Ham are not out of the race yet though. They have been far better since Jackson's second goal.

share

41 minutes Soucek has an almost immediate impact when the ball falls to him about 12 yards from the Chelsea penalty area. He blasts a low shot through several legs, but it goes straight at Sanchez.

share

39 minutes Paqueta is knocked over by Cucurella as the Brazilian tries to run through on the right. It is not a foul, however, and the Spaniard throws in before kicking the ball away. It has become very quiet at the London Stadium, if you don't count the manic screaming of Lopetegui.

share

38 minutes Can Soucek's work as a worker add something to West Ham's game? He also provides an additional aerial threat in the box.

share

37 minutes Lopetegui doesn't take this lying down and calls for Tomas Soucek. Guido Rodriguez will be the one who sheepishly makes way. Before the substitution can take place, Madueke shoots past the West Ham post. Somewhat embarrassed applause as the Real Betis man leaves the pitch.

34 minutes Jackson, with a hat-trick in mind, cuts inside from the left but Mavropanos does well to put the ball in the net. It looks like West Ham are making a tactical change.

share

33 minutes Krishnamoorthy emails me to remind me that the AI predicted Jackson would score the first goal! The part where Alvarez scores the 1-1 goal from distance didn't work, though.

share

32 minutes Kudus has the ball in the Chelsea goal, but he is clearly offside and knows it. An easy game for the VAR. West Ham still comes back into the game.

share

31 minutes West Ham are getting more and more corners but nothing is happening. Now at least there is some pressure and Paqueta's left-footed shot is blocked before it has a chance to go in.

share

VAR – NO PENALTY! VAR man Stuart Atwell considers Summerville’s hold to be “temporary” and Sam Bennett’s decision on the field stands.

share

28 minutes Lopetegui goes berserk again, but this time over a penalty appeal as Summerville goes down after being pulled back by Fofana in the box. The case is being reviewed.

share

27 minutes Chelsea didn't have to do much to take a 2-0 lead. Kudus was West Ham's liveliest attacker, bursting inside from the left and firing from just inside the box, but his shot deflected upwards and into the waiting arms of Sanchez.
