Indiana football wraps up non-conference play Saturday afternoon in Bloomington with a chance to make it 4-0 if they defeat the Charlotte 49ers. The Hoosiers are one of the Big Ten's strongest teams entering the 2024 season after maintaining their undefeated record with a 29-point win at UCLA last week.

Indiana enters its Week 4 game against Charlotte as a 27.5-point favorite. The 49ers are 1-2 overall this season, with double-digit losses to James Madison and North Carolina and a one-point win over Gardner-Webb.

With a win, Indiana would be two wins away from bowl eligibility and would improve its record to 4-0 for the first time since the 2020 season. Indiana's Curt Cignetti would also be the first head coach in program history to begin his debut season with a 4-0 record.

Noteworthy:

— With a 42-13 win at UCLA, Indiana improved its record to 3-0 for only the 20th time in program history. Curt Cignetti became only the third head coach in IU history to win his first Big Ten game.

— IU's 29-point win in the Rose Bowl was its biggest Big Ten road victory since 2001.

– The Hoosiers received 13 votes in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll.

– Indiana has scored 150 points in three games this season, a feat last accomplished in the 2013 season.

— The Hoosiers have not lost a turnover in three consecutive games for the first time since 1996.

— Indiana sixth-year quarterback Kurtis Rourke was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in Week 3. He completed 25 of 32 passes for 307 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Rourke is IU's first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week since Stevie Scott II in 2020 and the first Indiana quarterback to win the award since Nate Sudfeld in 2015.

– Indiana junior receiver Elijah Sarratt finished Week 3 with four catches for 54 yards, recording his 28th consecutive game with a pass reception.

— Charlotte will start third-string quarterback Trexler Ivey against Indiana, head coach Biff Poggi announced earlier this week. Ivey led the 49ers to a 14-point comeback win over Gardner-Webb in Week 3, coming off the bench to power three consecutive scoring drives.

— The 49ers and Hoosiers are two of the most revamped rosters this season. Charlotte's 71 new additions are third-most in the country, while Indiana has the ninth fewest returning scholarship players in the FBS.

– The 49ers have never defeated a Big Ten opponent, Indiana is their third Big Ten opponent in program history.
