Cheese Days Parking Guide – Monroe Times

MONROE — One of the biggest challenges during Cheese Days can be finding parking. Here's some information that may be helpful.

FREE SEATS WITH FRIENDLY DRIVE THROUGH & DROP OFF ZONE

These spots are ideal for dropping off passengers with strollers, walkers, wheelchairs, or those unable to walk a long distance. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, this zone is located at the southeast corner of Wisconsin Bank and Trust, at the intersection of 18th Avenue and 10th Street. (Use 1717 10th Street, Monroe as your GPS.) Signs and arrows show drivers where to stop and drop off passengers. After finding a parking spot, the Family Farm Adventure Tent, just a half-block from the drop-off location, is a good meeting point for drivers and passengers.

On Sunday, the Courtesy Drop Off Zone is located next to the Cheese Days Maker's Market (in the municipal parking lot – former parking ramp) at the intersection of 15th Avenue and 11th Street. This is across from Grace Lutheran Church. After finding a parking spot, the information trailer near Baumgartner's Cheese Store on the west side of the square is a good meeting point for passengers.

FREE PARK & RIDE SHUTTLE

Leave your car at the UPG Electrical Park and Ride lot at 350 21st Street. Buses run in a continuous loop and arrive approximately every 15-20 minutes. Handicap accessible buses (wheelchairs can ride) are available. The downtown stop is across from Grace Lutheran Church, next to the Cheese Days Maker's Market. From there, it's a one-block walk to the downtown square.

Opening hours of the free park-and-ride shuttle:

● Friday 5-10pm

● Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Includes a stop at the National Historic Cheesemaking Center until 3 p.m. Additional buses run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. to pick up dancers arriving Saturday for the world's largest polka event.

● Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Includes a stop at the National Historic Cheesemaking Center until 3 p.m. Buses run less frequently during the parade.

Accessible parking

The entire municipal parking lot north of Stop-N-Go and the Green County Historical Society Museum is designated as handicap parking all weekend. Accessible portable restrooms are available there. Use 1607 9th Street, Monroe as your GPS device, but note that the parking lot entrances are on 17th Avenue (east side) and 8th Street (north side).
