His son died with Princess Diana

Mohamed Al-Fayed, the late billionaire whose son died with Princess Diana, was accused by several women and girls of inappropriate sexual conduct, including rape.

The Egyptian businessman and former owner of London's luxury department store Harrods is the subject of a new BBC documentary called “Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods.” The BBC reports that it has heard testimony from 20 women and girls, including 13 survivors, who spoke about Al-Fayed's alleged abuse in the documentary. Al-Fayed died last year at the age of 94.

At the time of the alleged abuse, he owned Harrods, the Ritz hotel in Paris and British football club Fulham FC. The BBC says the documentary will show for the first time “the scale and severity of these allegations” and suggests that Harrods helped cover up Al-Fayed's crimes.

Mohamed Al-Fayed, here in a London courthouse in October 2007, is accused of rape by several women and girls.

Al Fayed's tenure as owner of Harrods lasted from 1985 to 2010. According to a BBC News article published on Thursday, the alleged incidents took place in London, St. Tropez (France), Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and Paris, where his son died.

An Associated Press article published last year focused on Al-Fayed's controversial views surrounding the deaths of his son and Princess Diana in a car crash in Paris following a paparazzi chase in 1997. According to the AP, the billionaire believed the two died as part of a conspiracy masterminded by Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II.
