One dead in crash in Dickey County | The Mighty 790 KFGO

ELLENDALE, ND (KFGO) – One person died Wednesday in a crash in Dickey County near the North Dakota-South Dakota border.

The Highway Patrol responded to the crash at the intersection of Highway 281 and State Line Road, about 4 miles south of Ellendale, just after 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

An SUV driven by 63-year-old Vernon Dalstein struck a pickup truck that was slowing down to turn. The SUV ended up in a swamp.

Dalstein and his passenger, 63-year-old Sherry Dalstein, were both taken to hospital in Aberdeen. Vernon died later that day. Sherry suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Dickey County Sheriff's Office, Brown County Sheriff's Office, Frederick Fire & Rescue, Frederick Ambulance and Aberdeen Ambulance all responded to the accident.
