Incident involving a bear thrush in Regina leads to three arrests

Regina police arrested three juveniles on Friday in connection with an incident involving bear repellent spray at a Regina high school.

At around 1:10 p.m., officers received a report that two students were being followed by two or three suspects who threatened to attack them with pepper spray, according to a news release from the Regina Police Service (RPS).

Miller was cordoned off while officers investigated. The surrounding schools, Balfour Collegiate, St. Augustine School, St. Faustina School and Thomson School, were placed into building security mode as a precaution.

Three youths were arrested and charged with weapons possession, but two were later released without charge, police said.

The curfew was lifted shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Police said no one was injured in the incident.

A juvenile, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with possession of a firearm. He will make his first court appearance on October 31, 2024.
