One person hospitalized after motorcycle crash in southeast Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Lincoln Police are investigating a serious accident with injuries that occurred shortly after noon Saturday near 33rd Street and Nebraska Parkway.

According to LPD, a white Dodge pickup truck driven by a 35-year-old Omaha man was traveling eastbound on the Pioneers Boulevard access road between Nebraska Parkway and 33rd Street when he turned left in front of a westbound motorcycle, and the motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the pickup truck.

According to LPD, the 56-year-old motorcyclist from Lincoln was taken to a local hospital for emergency surgery. His injuries are considered life-threatening. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the van was uninjured. He will be voluntarily examined by a drug recognition expert from the LPD, although no impairment was suspected at the scene.

LPD said any charges will depend on the outcome of that evaluation and investigation.

The area surrounding the accident scene will be closed for several hours while investigators complete their work. LPD asks drivers to find an alternate route to their destination.
