What led to Patrick Pass' arrest? Patriots legend in trouble after heated incident | NFL News

Patrick Passthe three-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriotsis now playing a different kind of defense – this time in court. The former fullback was arrested after an alleged altercation at the Planet Fitness gym in Rhode Island, where a workout turned into an altercation that no one saw coming.

The incident occurred on August 28, and here's how it went down: Pass, 46, apparently got into an argument with an 82-year-old man, and things quickly took a turn for the worse. Apparently, gym etiquette was disregarded when Pass allegedly pushed the older man to the ground; the result was that the older man injured his lower back when he fell. Not exactly the type of touchdown you'd normally associate with Pass.
Fast forward to September, and the North Providence Police and has made some serious allegations against Pass. He now faces assault charges and a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace, particularly because the victim is over 60 years old. Pass has been charged and has another court date in December – just as football season is getting into full swing. Coincidence?
But let's not forget, Pass is no ordinary gym junkie. He was drafted by the Patriots in 2000 and was the star of Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX. In his eight-year NFL career, he posted 526 rushing yards and a couple of touchdowns. Although he dominated on the football field, his recent stats in the gym aren't exactly impressive.
There was a lot of coverage on social media about the former patriot’s arrest. “Why are they always so violent?” asked one fan, while another joked: “He has to realize that he is no longer blocking.” Ouch. Even veteran NFL players aren't above venting their anger on the Internet.
The post-playing career hasn't exactly been smooth sailing for Pass. After briefly signing with the New York Giants in 2007, where he played just one game, he retired after returning to the Patriots in 2009. And now, as this Planet Fitness fiasco unfolds, Pass is once again in the headlines – but not necessarily for the right reasons.
As the investigation progresses, one thing becomes clear: the judgment-free zone that Planet Fitness talks about may not apply to this case. That's all for now – there will be many twists and turns in this story.
