Richardson Police Release Video of Chase and Shootout Involving Kaufman County Murder Suspect

Richardson police have released new dashcam video of a chase into Dallas in which the suspect fired shots at officers.

The incident began when a Richardson Fire Department arson investigator called police on September 16 to tell them he had spotted a vehicle in connection with a homicide in Kaufman County the day before.

Michelle Ingram, 53, was found dead under a blanket in her home. Ingram's husband of 20 years and their brand new black Cadillac were missing.

Officers attempted to stop the black Cadillac with the cardboard signs on Centennial Boulevard in Richardson, but the driver did not stop and a chase ensued.

Dashboard camera video shows police pursuing the vehicle at speeds over 90 miles per hour, with the suspect weaving back and forth between streets.

Near Esperanza Drive in Dallas, the driver began firing at officers. A Richardson police officer returned fire, shooting through his windshield.

The car came to a stop on the North Central Expressway access road near the Richardson-Dallas border.

Three children in the back seat got out of the car. The 5-, 15- and 17-year-olds were uninjured.

When the police approached the car, they found that the driver had shot himself and the passenger in the front seat, and had also been shot multiple times.

The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Donald Ingram.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The officer, who has been with the Richardson Police Department for five years, was not injured and has been placed on leave per department policy.

Dallas police are conducting the investigation into the shooting.
