Police search for hit-and-run scooter rider after Koreatown accident – ​​NBC Los Angeles

Police are searching for the driver of an electric scooter who struck and injured an elderly man on a sidewalk in Koreatown.

The accident occurred on September 12 shortly before 5 p.m. in the 2800 block of James M. Wood Boulevard, according to Los Angeles police. Surveillance cameras there captured a man and a woman riding separate Lime electric scooters on the sidewalk.

The video shows the woman riding her scooter in front of the man and then colliding with a pedestrian. The two then flee.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and treated the victim for a head injury. The man declined transport to a hospital, the LAPD said. It is unclear how severe his injuries were.

A hit-and-run report was filed at the scene of the accident and detectives are continuing their investigation.

Electric scooters are not allowed on sidewalks and must be ridden on bike paths. Anyone riding electric scooters must follow local traffic laws.
