New Carlisle charged with series of crimes in Dayton

His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.

On Aug. 28, Moore entered the TrueNorth store at a Shell gas station on Stanley Avenue and told the clerk he wanted to buy cigarettes. The clerk said Moore used force to steal $203.80 worth of Newport cigarettes, according to Dayton City Court records.

Moore allegedly reached into a 73-year-old woman's car and stole her wallet on September 9 while she was filling up at Sammy's Food Mart on South Smithville Road.

When she confronted him and reached into his car to get her wallet, Moore slammed the car door on her arm, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. She was also dragged several feet as the car drove off. The woman suffered a broken wrist in the incident.

The next day, Dayton police spotted a vehicle matching the description of Moore's vehicle near South Smithville Road and East Third Street. They approached the vehicle to speak with Moore, but he drove away, clipping an officer's leg and nearly running over his foot, prosecutors said.

On Sept. 11, Moore was inside a McDonald's on Edwin C. Moses Boulevard when he allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded that an employee give him cash from the register. He stole $306 and fled, according to city court records.

Witnesses were able to give police the license plate number and investigators tracked Moore to the Travelers Motel on North Dixie Drive in Harrison Twp.

After a brief standoff, Moore was arrested.

“This defendant is committing increasingly violent and brazen crimes,” said Montgomery County District Attorney Mat Heck Jr. “He is clearly dangerous and does not care who he hurts while fleeing to avoid capture.”

Moore is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $250,000 bail.
