Kathryn Crosby dies at 90: The actress from “The Anatomy Of A Murder” was also the widow of the legendary entertainer Bing Crosby

Kathryn Crosby, the widow of legendary actor, singer and Oscar winner Bing Crosby, has died at the age of 90.

Kathryn had an impressive acting career of her own, including appearances in Anatomy of a Murder, Operation Mad Ball and The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, which served as her star before she married Crosby in 1957.

Born on November 24, 1933, in West Columbia, Texas, she graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in fine arts before moving to Hollywood in 1953 in search of fame and fortune.

Kathryn met Bing when she interviewed him for a column about life in Hollywood that she was writing for her hometown newspaper.

The couple married in 1957, when she was 23 and Bing was 54, and she remained married to him until his death in 1977.

Kathryn and Bing had a turbulent relationship for four years before eloping to Las Vegas.

After she and Bing married, she retired from her acting career to focus on raising her three children.

As a child and teenager, Kathryn dominated local beauty pageants in Texas and won a contract with Paramount when she was named runner-up in the Miss Texas pageant.

This contact brought her to Hollywood and paved the way for her to marry Bing.

It is said that she made him promise to continue her acting career after the wedding, but he soon reneged on his promise because he preferred to leave her at home.

The couple moved to the San Francisco suburb of Hillsborough in the early 1960s and she became a registered nurse in 1963.

After Bing died of a heart attack during a golf trip to Spain in 1977, Kathryn restarted her acting career.

Kathryn took on the role of administrator of her husband's estate, particularly after the publication of two books, one of which was written by his son Gary from his first marriage and portrayed him as a violent tyrant.

She wrote My Life With Bing (1983) and My Last Years with Bing (2002) to tell her version of her life with the legendary actor.

“I want you to understand,” she once told People magazine, “that my position in this world is based on being Mrs. Bing Crosby.”

After Bing's death, she married Maurice Sullivan in 2000. He died in a car accident in 2010 in which Crosby was seriously injured.

She leaves behind three children she had with Bing: Mary Frances, Harry and Nathaniel.
