Sean Combs, better known as “Diddy,” was arrested and arraigned on Monday at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan, New York. Combs was taken into custody by Homeland Security Investigations, where he was denied $50 million bail.

According to CNN, prosecutors opposed Combs' release for some reason, telling the court that he had attempted to influence key witnesses and that “the danger was acute,” as well as his history of anger issues and use of illegal substances.

The Department of Homeland Security raided Combs' home in March and found weapons, ammunition and supplies for the notorious “freak offs,” which, according to the indictment, “were elaborate and produced sex performances.” These “freak offs” involved the travel of women and sex workers and the delivery of drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine and oxycodone to force them to engage in sexual activity. These “events” lasted several days.

The indictment further states that the alleged victims were often given intravenous fluids to help them recover from exertion and drug use.

The supplies seized by the Department of Homeland Security included 1,000 bottles of baby oil, lubricants and illegal drugs. In addition, Combs is considered a flight risk because he allegedly has a weapons cache in his bedroom and several million dollars in cash.

Following his arrest, Combs was charged with conspiracy to commit organized crime, sex trafficking, and interstate transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He faces up to life in prison. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Marc Agnifilo, Combs' attorney, argued for Combs' innocence and said he would appeal the bail decision. In addition, Agnifilo claimed that the “freak offs” were prearranged and not forced.

Combs was previously accused of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Surveillance footage of a 2016 incident has surfaced showing Combs and Ventura in the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. In the video, Combs can be seen kicking, punching and dragging Ventura through the hallway.

Although Venture's lawsuit was settled, Combs has five separate civil lawsuits pending as of November 2023, involving a number of instances of sexual misconduct as well as other illegal activities.

Combs will remain in federal custody until his trial, which is scheduled for October 9.
