SWAT operation at Milton apartment complex ends as man leaves peacefully – WSB-TV Channel 2

MILTON, Georgia – An hours-long incident in Milton involving dozens of police officers, sheriff's deputies and SWAT teams from multiple cities and counties has come to an end.

The massive presence was at the IMT Deerfield Apartments on Morris Road.

According to Milton police, the conflict ended around 4:45 p.m. when negotiators managed to get the suspect to peacefully leave the apartment.

He was taken into custody, but police did not release his identity.

No injuries were reported.

During the incident, police asked everyone in the complex to “shelter in place” and asked everyone outside the complex to stay away. But they no longer need to shelter in place and will soon be able to enter and exit the community again, police said.

We are also grateful to the residents of IMT Deerfield for their patience, responsiveness and understanding,” they wrote in a statement.

It is unclear what prompted the man to barricade himself in an apartment.
