Police operation at IMT Deerfield in Milton | What you should know

Milton police posted on Facebook Saturday that there was a heavy police presence at IMT Deerfield, an apartment complex.

MILTON, Ga. – A man is in custody after police spent hours responding to a “reported incident” at a Milton apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

Police said officers responded to the IMT Deerfield apartment complex. The agency has not yet released an explanation for the call, saying only that it was a reported incident. Multiple agencies worked with Milton police for several hours, a news release said.

Police said the situation was resolved peacefully around 4:45 p.m. when negotiators persuaded the suspect to exit the building without incident. He was then taken into custody and there are no known injuries related to the situation.

Milton police posted a post on Facebook earlier in the day urging the public to stay away from the apartment complex and stated that there was a heavy police presence in the area.

Police said that while police will remain in the area for some time, people should soon be able to enter and exit the complex again and there is no longer any need for people to shelter in place.

There will be significant police activity at the Deerfield IMT complex on Saturday afternoon. Please stay away from this area.
