1 dead in traffic accident in Rock Island County

ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, Illinois – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Illinois City early Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 12:15 p.m. near the 15300 block of 322nd Street West, Illinois City, according to a news release from the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office.

One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Two occupants of the other vehicle were also taken to a local hospital for treatment with unspecified injuries.

Members of the Muscatine Police Department, Illinois City Fire Department and Rock Island County Coroner's Office assisted the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office at the scene of the accident.

The name of the deceased will not be released until the next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
