Auburn football benches QB Hank Brown against Arkansas. Who does Hugh Freeze go with?

AUBURN – The Auburn football team benched quarterback Hank Brown after he threw three interceptions in the first half of Saturday's game against Arkansas at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Payton Thorne started in the second half after being benched for Brown the previous week against New Mexico. Auburn finished the first half with 72 passing yards and trailed 7-0 at halftime.

Thorne, a team captain, rushed for nearly 6,500 yards and 49 touchdowns in 29 appearances at Michigan State. In his first season with the Tigers last year, he totaled 1,755 passing yards with 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. In 2024, Thorne currently has five touchdowns and four interceptions for 487 yards entering the second half against the Razorbacks.

Brown finished his afternoon with 7 of 13 passes completed and three interceptions. In his first two series, Thorne completed 2 of 7 passes for 11 yards.
