Portsmouth man allegedly distributed child sexual abuse material

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – A Portsmouth man was arrested and charged after being accused of distributing child sexual abuse material online, according to Portsmouth police.

Portsmouth Police said they had been contacted by Internet Crimes Against Children because they had received information about child sexual abuse material being shared online.

On August 8, multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at the home of 44-year-old Jarrod Reffitt and seized several electronic devices. After reviewing the contents of the devices, Portsmouth Police determined that Reffitt was “in possession of a tremendous amount of child sexual assault material.”

Police added that the videos and images discovered were “some of the most disturbing and disgusting depicting children, including toddlers, being sexually abused by adults.”

Reffitt was arrested on September 20 and charged with 71 counts of facilitating sexually motivated acts of a minor.

He is currently being held in the Scioto County Jail.

Anyone with further information on the case is asked to contact Detective Tori Pistole at 740-354-1600.
