Sparks Police: Murder suspect in custody after fatal shooting on E. Street | Local news

The suspect in the shooting, Yun Kim, has since been medically examined and registered with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

Update (19.9., 13:05):

Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead on E. Street in Sparks late Wednesday afternoon.

According to Sparks police, it happened after a disagreement between the suspect, identified as Yun Kim, and two workers who were renovating a vacant apartment near E. and 19th Streets.

According to the police report, Kim had an altercation with the workers earlier in the day and then returned shortly before 4:30 p.m. with a gun and began shooting.

The unidentified man who was shot was taken to hospital but died.

The other worker, who was not hit, managed to subdue Kim on the spot and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kim was taken to the hospital. Upon his release, he will be taken to the Washoe County Jail where he faces the following charges:

* Murder with a deadly weapon

* Assault with a deadly weapon

* Attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon

The investigation is currently ongoing.

Two people were hospitalized after Sparks police responded to reports of a shooting on E Street Wednesday evening.

Sparks Police confirmed a heavy police presence along E Street in Sparks near Kate Smith Elementary and are asking the public to avoid the area.
