2 dead, 4 injured after head-on collision in western Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – Two people were killed and several others, including children, were seriously injured in a car crash in western Phoenix on Saturday.

At around 1:20 p.m., Maricopa County Sheriff's officers were called to a head-on collision near 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road.

According to MCSO, a woman and a man were killed in the collision. Four other people, including several children, were hospitalized, some of them in critical condition.

The MCSO also confirmed that children were involved in the accident and some were hospitalized with “very serious injuries.”

The roads will be closed for several hours and there is no estimated time for reopening.

Detectives are still investigating what caused this accident. No further information has been released.
