Gainesville woman arrested for hitting elderly relative

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Rose Marie Williams, 67, of Gainesville was arrested for hitting her 86-year-old relative and refusing to help bystanders.

On Thursday evening, Williams hit the elderly woman on the head and did not allow her to get up.

Court documents show that the elderly lady was no longer able to get up on her own due to her age.

When officers arrived on the scene, Williams ignored requests to open the door and instead hit the elderly woman several times with a door while attempting to drag her further into the building by her legs.

The elderly woman was taken to the emergency room shortly afterwards; her condition is unknown.

During his arrest, Williams kicked the arresting officers several times.

Williams is charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and resisting an officer.
