Police pursue Walmart robbery suspect and driver from Monroe County to Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, an unarmed robbery at a Walmart in Monroe occurred Friday that led to a chase and ended in Toledo.

A 39-year-old male suspect stole merchandise valued at about $3,000 from a store around 10:50 p.m. According to authorities, the man attacked an employee when he confronted him.

The suspect left the store with the stolen items and got into a silver Ford Edge driven by a 39-year-old woman.

The car headed south where an attempt was made to stop traffic. According to officials, the car was unable to stop and continued at a high rate of speed down South Telegraph Road through Monroe, LaSalle, Erie and Bedford townships.

According to MCSO, officers deployed stop sticks around South Telegraph Road and Sterns Road, which successfully deflated the car's tires. However, the car continued into Toledo, Ohio, eventually coming to a stop near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Detroit Avenue.

The robber was quickly arrested and the driver taken into custody. Both were charged with several crimes, according to police.

The names of the suspects have not yet been released.

According to MCSO, Toledo police assisted in the investigation and arrest of both suspects.
