New Delhi:

Coldplay is returning to India for a concert after 9 years. The British band will perform at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on January 18 and 19 next year. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow on BookMyShow. Getting a ticket for the concert might be difficult, even though the venue has a capacity of 50,000 people. A calculation based on ChatGPT suggests that the chances of getting a ticket could be as low as 22%.

The prediction was shared by Tina Gurnaney, marketing director at ONDC, on X (formerly Twitter), where she detailed the ChatGPT analysis under the headline “Chances of getting a ticket to a Coldplay concert.”

According to ChatGPT's analysis, 150,000 people are expected to show interest in BookMyShow by the weekend. With such high demand, the odds of grabbing a ticket are about 1 in 3. However, when you factor in additional competition – such as fans who don't express formal interest but still want to buy tickets and those who use multiple devices or accounts – the odds drop even further.

Assuming that 20% of fans fall into the “unexpressed interest” category and another 10% of competition comes from multiple bookings, the chances of getting a ticket increase to 1 in 4.4, or a probability of 22.7%.

The tweet quickly spread across the internet and users responded in large numbers in the comments.

One user pointed out that ignoring VIP ticket prices creates more competition for general tickets, making it even more difficult to get one.

“People who have expressed interest will probably try to buy the maximum number of tickets. They learned this from the Diljit & Dua Lipa saga,” wrote one user. Tickets for Diljit Dosanjh's “Dil-luminati Tour” in India sold out in seconds earlier this month.

Some stressed that this number could be reduced even further by purchasing group tickets.

“One person can buy 8 tickets. This is not taken into account here,” said one user, pointing out an error in ChatGPT's calculation.

Coldplay has also introduced a special 'Infinity Tickets' program where tickets cost Rs 2,000. However, the seats for these tickets will remain secret until the day of the concert. Each fan can buy a maximum of two Infinity Tickets.
