Truck crashes into two houses in northwest Milwaukee

A truck slammed into two occupied homes in northwest Milwaukee on Saturday night, sending three people to the hospital. The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. near 40th Street and Roosevelt Drive. Both families in the two homes were home at the time of the crash, and many of them said they ran for cover. “It was like, 'Boom. Like something exploded,'” said Sharita Turner, who lives in one of the homes. The two homes did not appear to have significant structural damage, but there was some damage to exterior walls and a fence in the alley. Arstine Linwood lives in the corner home. “Everything started shaking. A curtain fell off the wall and pictures fell down,” Linwood said. Turner and her family ran outside to join the growing crowd of bystanders trying to help the people trapped in the car. “I also heard the crowd chanting, 'Help them get out! The door is stuck, the door is stuck!'” Turner said. Witnesses said three people were in the truck at the time of the crash. Milwaukee police did not release any information to WISN 12 News Saturday night, but witnesses said the crash occurred after the driver had a medical emergency. “I think we did our job, especially as neighbors and staying here,” said Carey Simmons, who also lives in one of the homes. The Milwaukee Fire Department said they took three people to the hospital. “There were automatic tears because you never know what could have happened with all the kids in the house,” Linwood said. This story is still developing. WISN 12 News will provide updates as more information becomes available.

On Saturday evening, a truck crashed into two residential homes in northwest Milwaukee, requiring three people to be hospitalized.

Arstine Linwood lives in the corner house.

“Everything started shaking. A curtain fell off the wall and pictures fell down,” Linwood said.

Turner and her family ran outside to join the growing crowd of bystanders trying to help those trapped in the car.

“I think we did our job, especially as neighbors and by staying here,” said Carey Simmons, who also lives in one of the houses.

The Milwaukee Fire Department said it took three people to the hospital.
