The victim was identified as Varun Kotyan while the accused is his roommate Divesh. Both men resided in the Geddalahalli area. The crime took place on Saturday after the two had an argument, the report said.

Kotyan was employed in a factory in Bagalur while Divesh worked for a private company. On Friday, two friends visited them at their home and the four of them drove to Koramangala for a party. Early on Saturday morning, around 4:30 am, they went for a fun ride on two motorcycles to Devanahalli before returning. One of the friends decided to spend the night in Kotyan's room while the other drove home, the publication added.

An argument then broke out between Varun and Divesh, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation. The two were sitting outside their home when they began talking about the woman, and Divesh allegedly attacked Varun. He chased the victim and pushed her down a street as she tried to flee, the report said. Divesh allegedly beat Kotyan to death with a rock that was nearby.

Police have arrested the accused Divesh and further investigation is underway.

This comes after a brutal murder in Bengaluru recently, in which a woman named Mahalakshmi was chopped into 30 pieces and stuffed into a refrigerator.
