Man arrested on suspicion of murder after stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a knife attack on a man in East Bristol.

Officers arrested and detained a 32-year-old man in Eastville, Bristol on Saturday afternoon.

This is the first report of the death of a 25-year-old man who was stabbed to death on Stapleton Road at around 5.40pm (CEST) on Friday.

Two women, aged 36 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a crime; both remain in custody.

A man who was arrested on suspicion of the same offence on Saturday evening was released without further action.

Det Insp Mark Newbury, lead investigator, said the murder arrest “marks a significant step forward in our investigation”.

“He is in custody and will be questioned by detectives from our Major Crime Investigation Team in due course,” he said.

“We have been in contact with close friends of the deceased man, have kept them updated with the news and continue to offer them support.

“The public can continue to expect an increased police presence over the next few days as we seek to assist anyone who is concerned following this tragic incident.”
