BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (KLFY) — An off-duty Louisiana State Police officer has been charged with assault following a fight at today's LSU-UCLA football game, authorities said.

During the game, police responded to a disturbance in the stands and found that a physical altercation had occurred between the off-duty officer and two men. Further investigation revealed that the off-duty officer, identified as 30-year-old Artellus Bellard of Lake Charles, used the physical force following a verbal dispute, officials said.

Bellard, who has been assigned to State Police Troop D since 2021, was charged with two counts of simple assault and released on summons with a pending court date.

No further information is currently available until the criminal and administrative proceedings have been concluded.
