Serious car crash leaves driver critically ill in Watertown, SD | Local news

{KXLG – Watertown, SD} The Watertown Fire Department (WFR) reported a serious vehicle accident that occurred Saturday afternoon, September 21, in which a driver sustained life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 212 and 450th Avenue west of Watertown. According to authorities, a semi-trailer and a car collided, causing both vehicles to end up in the eastbound ditch.

WFR's Medic 5 and Engine 4 arrived at the scene. The report states: “The semi-trailer had front-end damage and the four-door passenger vehicle had significant passenger side damage.”

The driver of the car, the only occupant, suffered serious injuries and was immediately transported to Prairie Lakes Healthcare Systems. The driver of the semi-trailer truck was uninjured.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Codington County Sheriff's Department are investigating the cause of the accident.
