MARYELLEN PANN. WELL, IT WAS AN ACTIVE NIGHT OF SEVERE WEATHER. WE HAD SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WARNINGS. WE HAD STORM SURGE WARNINGS AND LOTS OF HAIL AND A TON OF LIGHTNING. THAT STORM LINE HAS RECESSED FOR SIX HOURS. YOU COULD SEE IT RUNNING THROUGH THE AREA AS WE LOOP THROUGH HERE. THAT'S HOW IT GOES. VERY STRONG STORMS ARE COMING THROUGH, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY REACHED ADAMS AND YORK COUNTY. THERE WAS EVEN SOME ROTATIONS REPORTED ON SOME OF THE STORMS THAT PASSED THROUGH AND BROUGHT A LOT OF RAIN, AND WE NEEDED THAT. WHEN WE LOOK AT THE RAIN AMOUNTS, MANY AREAS WHERE THE ORANGE AND YELLOW COLOR IS OVER TWO INCHES, PARTS OF ADAMS COUNTY, YORK COUNTY AND INTO DAUPHIN COUNTY, AND WE'LL HAVE A LOT MORE RAIN CHANCES AS WE GO INTO THE WORK WEEK, BUT TODAY WILL BE MOSTLY DRY, CLOUDY AND COOLER. FALL OFFICIALLY BEGINS AT 8:44 AM, AND IT WILL FEEL LIKE FALL TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN RATHER COOL AS WE GO INTO THE WORK WEEK, AND WE WILL HAVE EVEN MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR RAIN AS THE WORK WEEK PROGRESSES. YOUR NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST CALLS FOR LOTS OF CLOUDS THIS MORNING. THERE MAY BE SOME AREA OF FOG AS WELL. VISIBILITY IS STILL PRETTY GOOD. MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH SOME SUNSHINE AND TEMPERATURES AROUND 23 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON. AND REMEMBER, WE'VE HAD TEMPERATURES ABOVE 25 DEGREES FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS, SO IT'S GOING TO FEEL LIKE A CHANGE. SOME SUNSHINE TONIGHT, AND THEN THE SUN WILL SET JUST AFTER 7 PM. TEMPERATURES AROUND 23 DEGREES. MOSTLY CLOUDY TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW. I CAN'T RULE OUT A BIT OF RAIN. It'll be mild, between 15 and 15 degrees. And tomorrow it'll be mostly cloudy, with a little more chance of some afternoon showers. Temperatures around 21 degrees. So it's sure to be a chilly start to the work week for your weather and health. Pollen levels are moderate. Mold levels are high. Air quality is moderate in terms of particles and of course the UV index is low with all the cloud cover today, with a burn time of 55 minutes. OUTSIDE OUR LANCASTER SKY CAM VISIBILITY LOOKS GOOD BUT YOU CAN SEE FAIRLY A LOT OF CLOUDS ABOVE US AND THAT WILL BE THE CASE FOR MOST OF THE DAY TODAY, 59 IN LANCASTER, 63 IN LEBANON, 64 IN CARLISLE AND GETTYSBURG AND YORK, AS WELL AS CHAMBERSBURG, AND DEW POINTS ARE IN THE 60S, EVEN ABOVE 50 IN SOME AREAS. SO I'M NOT FEEL THAT BAD. WE'LL SEE THESE NUMBERS COME DOWN A LITTLE MORE AS THE DAY GOES ON. SO WE HAD A SYSTEM THAT MOVED SOUTH OF THE AREA AND THEN WE'RE WATCHING ANOTHER ONE THAT'S GOING TO MOVE AND MOVE TOWARDS US. THE WARM FRONT IS FOLLOWED BY A COLD FRONT. AND WE'LL SEE A SERIES OF FRONTAL BOUNDARIES COMING THROUGH THE AREA. AND THAT'S WHAT'S GIVING US A CHANCE OF RAIN AT TIMES OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. HERE'S A LOOK AT THE FORECAST REPORT. THIS AFTERNOON WE'RE GOING TO HAVE SOME BREAKS IN THE CLOUD COVER. AND TOMORROW MORNING THE CLOUDS WILL MOVE BACK UP. JUST A FEW SHOWERS AND IN THE AFTERNOON WE'LL SEE A SLIGHTLY BETTER CHANCE FOR SHOWERS TO MOVE IN. AND THEN WE'LL SEE ANOTHER ROUND AS WE MOVE INTO MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING. AND THEN TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. WE'LL EXPERIENCE ANOTHER ROUND OF RAIN. BUT SOME MUCH NEEDED RAIN WILL COME OUR WAY. WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT THE TEN-DAY FORECAST. TEMPERATURES AROUND 70 ON TUESDAY, CLOSER TO 70 FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. IT'LL BE A LITTLE DRIER TOWARDS THE END OF THE WEEK, BUT WE'LL KEEP AN EYE ON THE TROPICS BECAUSE THE NEXT POTENTIAL SYSTEM, SOME MODELING SHOWS IT COULD BRING US SOME RAIN TOWARDS THE WEEKEND

Today at 8:44 am autumn officially begins with cooler temperatures and lots of clouds.

It is a drier day with a higher chance of rain this week.

After last night's showers and thunderstorms, scattered morning fog is possible. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, with a few more bursts of sunshine in the afternoon. Highs will be much cooler, at 21 to 25 degrees. Skies will remain mostly cloudy tonight, with lows dropping to around 15 degrees. A scattered shower cannot be ruled out in the morning, but there is a slightly higher chance of showers returning in the afternoon. Highs will be even cooler, at around 21 degrees. The easterly coastal flow will keep skies mostly cloudy for several days, with a higher chance of rain as frontal systems cross the region later in the week. Highs will remain cool on Tuesday, then rise again to 21 to 25 degrees late in the week. We continue to monitor the tropics for the likely development of our next tropical depression this week. Modeling points to a hurricane developing in the Gulf of Mexico late in the week. The path of this system will be crucial in determining whether we see more chances of rain next weekend. We will continue to monitor the situation and bring you the latest information each day. Anyone traveling to the Gulf Coast with family or travel interests should pay close attention to the weather forecast for late next week. Make it a great day! MaryEllen Pann
