On August 30, Toshiyuki Ichinomiya, a crime boss of the Kanto Sekine-gumi, is said to have slashed the head and other body parts of another yakuza boss of the same syndicate with a sword on a street in the Arakicho district at around 3:00 a.m.

The 50-year-old victim suffered serious injuries, including cuts to his head and stomach and a skull fracture. However, his condition is not life-threatening, reports TV Aashi (September 22).

When he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on September 20, Ichinomiya remained silent, the Ushigome police station said.

Ichinomiya drove to the crime scene. His involvement in the crime became clear after an examination of surveillance camera footage. Tokyo police arrested him on September 20.

Police are now looking for a motive for the attack and believe that the suspect had a personal grudge against the victim.
