Roosevelt man faces drunk driving and manslaughter charges after Hicksville crash that kills 30-year-old

A Roosevelt man faces drunken driving and manslaughter charges after a 30-year-old man was killed in a serious car crash while driving while under the influence of alcohol on Prospect Avenue in Hicksville late Saturday night, Nassau County police said.

Miguel Nolasco, 42, of Washington Avenue was reportedly driving west while intoxicated when his 2005 Honda was struck by an eastbound Subaru that turned left and headed north on Cantiague Rock Road around 11:19 p.m., police said in a news release.

The driver of the Subaru, a 30-year-old man, was trapped in his vehicle when it caught fire and was completely engulfed in flames, police said.

Police said Nolasco was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. He was arrested after investigators determined he was driving while intoxicated, police said.

Nolasco is charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree reckless homicide and driving under the influence, the release said. Police said he will be arraigned as soon as medically possible.

The investigation is ongoing, police say.
