Watch: BYU's Parker Kingston runs for 100 yards on a wild punt return TD against No. 13 Kansas State

BYU wide receiver Parker Kingston turned a fumble into the best punt return of the 2024 college football season late Saturday night.

Kingston officially returned a punt 90 yards for a touchdown in the Cougars' upset win over No. 13 Kansas State, but he ran a lot more than that. Watch how his return unfolded after he dropped the punt while running and put himself in a precarious position early in the return.

A football field is just over 53 yards wide, and Kingston first touched the punt at his own 22-yard line before picking the ball up at the 10-yard line. That's 12 yards, and we estimate he ran about 48 yards down the field on the way from the near sideline to the far sideline.

Adding these numbers to the official yardage of his punt return, it is safe to assume that Kingston sprinted about 150 yards after touching the ball to get into the end zone.

He almost made another terrible mistake at the end of the punt return. If you look closely, Kingston drops the ball right after it crossed the goal line. Luckily, a BYU teammate picked up the ball in the end zone while Kingston was celebrating. Even if he had dropped the ball too early, the touchdown would have counted.

The return extended BYU's lead to 31-6 and they won 38-9. Kansas State lost the ball three times in the second and third quarters, and BYU converted all three of those points into points. The Wildcats led 6-3 before their first turnover, and BYU scored 28 straight points thanks to the three turnovers and the punt return.
