Ocoee man killed in hit-and-run, FHP says

OCOEE, Florida. – A pedestrian lying on a road in Ocoee was fatally struck by a vehicle that left the scene of an accident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 10:44 p.m. Saturday on Ocoee Apopka Road, south of Demastus Lane, police said.

According to an FHP accident report, the pedestrian – a 25-year-old man from Ocoee – was lying in the southbound lane and directly in the path of the vehicle when he was struck. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said. Witnesses gave Ocoee police descriptions of the vehicle.

Officers later found a vehicle in the area that matched witness descriptions, such as damage consistent with the crash, according to FHP. Officers towed the vehicle to a secure storage area for further processing and a criminal investigation is ongoing, the report said.
