More details released on arrest of middle school student charged with threats of violence

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has released more details about a student who was allegedly arrested over the weekend for making threats of violence.

Sheriff Tommy Ford released a statement that included the student's name and age, saying 11-year-old Jenesis King, a sixth-grader at Jinks Middle School, was the student arrested for making a threat against the school.

The report said that around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, a tip was received through Fortify Florida and received by the Bay County Sheriff's Office and Bay District Schools. The tip allegedly indicated that the suspect had announced he was planning to carry out a shooting at Jinks Middle School.

Authorities said King was tracked down and arrested. He is accused of making written death threats and has been booked into a juvenile detention center.
